Our Story

About La Paix Bakery

We Aim to Celebrate Caribbean Culture with our Authentic Haitian Baked Goods

Opened in November 2005 in Miramar, Florida, by Lucien Nozile, Yolande Derosier, and Nadeige Sterlin, La Paix Bakery is a family-owned and operated Haitian bakery that strives to bring Caribbean pride and culture to more people. La Paix means peace in French. The word is pronounced ‘Pe’ as in ‘pet,’ while the ‘X’ is silent.

Through our specialization in Haitian baked goods, we celebrate our Haitian roots with the community and create a space where people can break bread in peace.

We invite both residents of and visitors to South Florida to come and celebrate Haitian culture and become familiar with the values, pride, music, and food of our homeland Haiti.

Who Are We – Our Story

Haitian Goods Made With a Pure Heart

Lucien Nozile and Yolande Derosier started their first bakery in 1999. What started as a small passion project quickly grew into something bigger, better and truly beloved. This success allowed them to expand to another cozy little bakery in 2005 when Lucien, Yolande and Nadeige opened La Paix Bakery.

Lucien, who passed away in 2017, was the head baker, creating a diverse range of baked goods that reflected the delicious taste of the island. His partner, Yolande, was the driving force behind the operational side of the business, which she now runs with her daughters Natasha Nozile-Janvier and Nadeige Sterlin.

Today, Yolande, Natasha, and Nadeige each bring their unique strengths, passions and experiences to propel the company forward, and to give back to the broader community.

La Paix Bakery remains family-owned and operated, and has attracted a lot of attention—not just due to the delicious baked goods and beverages, but now to their unique approach at showing appreciation towards customers. In fact, we are quite certain no other Haitian bakery holds as many Customer Appreciation days and events as we do.

La Paix Bakery is set to open up a second location in Miami-Dade county in 2022, thereby opening a new chapter for the business! This new location will allow us to better serve the broader community, and share the La Paix Bakery experience!

Our Goal

Introducing the Deliciousness of Rich, Haitian Flavors to Our Community

We strive to become cultural ambassadors to some of the best aspects of Haitian culture.

At La Paix Bakery, we know the first-hand the struggles and instabilities that immigrants face in America. We pride ourselves in creating jobs for newcomers to South Florida, giving them a pathway to the middle class and beyond.

We will continue to expand our role with giving back to the community in meaningful ways—financially, in-kind donations, event sponsorships/partnerships, and so forth.

Moreover, we are always honored to introduce Haitian food and culture to our many customers who are not of Haitian descent. We see ourselves as cultural ambassadors to some of the best aspects of Haitian culture. All are welcomed through our doors to be part of the La Paix Bakery experience!
